Congratulations to Vaidehi and Sarma, our dear Strawberry friends from Camp Naked Babies, who had the winning ticket!
To all our friends, relatives, teachers, classmates and art & music lovers who donated so generously to help send Ryland to Carnegie Hall,
Thank you for all of your support!
Around 200 tickets were sold in all!
We know this experience will leave a lasting impression on Ryland.
The beautiful music you are listening to is one of the 9 movements in
"The Peace of Wild Things" composed by Imant Raminsh, the music which will be enjoying it's East Coast premiere when the Cabrillo Symphonic Chorus and Cabrillo Youth Chorus perform it at Carnegie Hall on June 19th, 2007.
The piece was commissioned last year by Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra, Cantiamo! and Con Brio of the Cabrillo Youth Chorus.
It consists of 9 short poems, 3 each by poets, e. e. cummings, Wendell Berry, and Morton Marcus.
In this recording, Cantiamo! is performing the piece.

Here is the poetry of the excerpt playing...

i carry my heart with me (i carry it in
by e. e. cummings

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go, my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
                                                          i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)
